About Jamie
Throughout her life, Jamie has maintained a passion for celebrating life and supporting others, specifically families, to achieve their fullest potential. Jamie received a master’s degree in art therapy in 2004 from Drexel University; and is a registered art therapist and licensed professional counselor. Throughout her career, she has fine-tuned her skills and efforts to focus on the perinatal, birth, postpartum and early parenting stages of life. Jamie has been a practicing birth and postpartum doula for over twelve years and became a certified birth doula through DONA International in 2013. Jamie is also a Lamaze certified childbirth Educator and serves as a Member-At-Large on the Ed Council for the Board of Lamaze International. Jamie has served literally hundreds of families throughout the course of her twenty-year career. The core tenants of her professional pursuits are to educate, empower and advocate for people to experience meaningful and joy-filled lives.
She is active in the arts and in local and international social justice efforts that promote life’s integrity and value for all human beings. She has integrated her creative and therapeutic skills with the practice of prenatal, birth and postpartum support to ensure that life’s significant moments can be experienced with purposeful and positive perspective. Her specialized clinical experience and childbirth coaching skills offer a holistic focus to support the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of mothers and families during the birth of their baby and early parenting experience. The philosophy behind her coaching approach is to blend evidence-based information, strategic comfort measures with confidence and calm to provide families a pregnancy, labor, delivery and newborn experience with as much peace and positivity as possible.
Within a therapeutic setting, Jamie supports new parents struggling with emotional/mental health challenges to help identify and implement practical daily strategies as well as positive self-perceptions to thrive in momentary and long-term family life. She believes in being a team player and assisting each mother and family in facilitating a personalized and dignified birthing and parenting experience.
